My Sexy Saturday: The Sexy Ghost

Ghosts can be sexy. One of the WIPs I'm playing with from time to time involves the ghost of a colored man haunting his former owner/lover after the Civil War. The only person who can see the small, well-toned man is Robert.

These two men are still attracted and aroused by each other... can Jared find the power to manifest long enough to satisfy both of their needs?

Here is a 7 paragraph excerpt from Pleasing the Ghost:

Carl Van Vechten [Public domain], via Wikimedia Commons
“You’re haunting me just because you are enjoying yourself?” Robert viciously cut the piece of ham on his plate. It had been nearly a year and every day since Jared’s hanging the man had been following him, arguing with him, tormenting him. He didn’t know how much more he could take.

Jared sat down in the leather armchair across the room. His weightless form not making any indent in the cushion. “I miss eating,” he said in a wistful tone. He took off his white shirt, revealing his smooth chest and lean muscle. The ghostly fabric rested over the arm of the chair.

Jared was the perfect submissive for Robert’s taste. Slight in stature, small boned, with light gray eyes. Not the usual African male. There must be some mixed blood in his line even though his skin was a delicious dark brown.

Jared twisted at the waist as if stretching his body. He showed off every appealing curve.

Robert gritted his teeth to resist reaching out and trying to touch him, trying to draw Jared to his side.

Jared ran his hand up his tight abdominals to his nipple. The young man squeezed it and rolled it between thumb and forefinger until it stiffened. He tipped his head to the side and let out a tiny moan. His hand drifted to his other nipple.

Robert’s cock thickened. “Stop it!” he shouted. “Stop teasing me. I can’t take any more.”

Sex with Monsters

Vampires. Werewolves. Things that go bump in the night. They’re dangerous, forbidden. Yet we desire to tap into that unknown and know its strength, perhaps test our boundaries. Succumb to it and maybe reinvent ourselves in the process.

And then my brain kicks in and says, oh that’s all sooo serious sounding! What about a little fun?

Well I did write a little vampire ditty a few years back and I still have it. In fact, I recently dusted it off, added another five thousand words and it’s awaiting submission. In the meantime, I have brought a bit to share today. I hope you like it. It’s rather smexy!

"But, my flight..." Darla murmured, pushing her breasts into his hands.
Her breasts were heavy and full and warm. Under the flimsy bra material, he could feel her nipples pebble. He wheezed in a groan as his balls contracted tight to his body. “Don’t worry. I'll give you a ride to the airport myself.”
Darla smiled and stroked her fingernails down his washboard abs to the waistband of his pants. Her fingers undid the button and slowly lowered the zipper. “I guess we better make this quick then.”
His cock leapt at the touch of her hands, sending liquid out the slit. Panting, he was moments away from sweeping her off her feet and taking her to his bed. Trouble was, he wanted to keep her there longer than a night. Images of her spread eagle on his bed ripe for his pleasure slammed into him. His blood heated. The red covering slid over his eyes. He ached to taste her and lowered his face toward her cleavage. “How long will you be gone?”
“A week. I was planning to visit the rest of the family too.”
He jerked his head up.
She laughed. “Do you think you can live without me that long?”
“I highly doubt it.”
Her smile faded.  “I guess I should really go then… We can pick this up when I return.”
He growled and pulled her tight against him, lest she escape. “No.” He shook his head. “I will come with you. Sergey, ready the night plane!” He swooped down and picked her up in his arms. As he gazed upon the heaving swell her breasts, her long elegant neck, and her ruby red lips begging to be kissed, his control reached the breaking point. His hissed as the ancient diamond and ruby medallion around his neck burned his skin. He ached to use its power. No, no I won’t use fear or control to take her. But I must have her. I must.
His blood boiled as he rushed down the stairs with her. Sergey waited at the bottom of the gangway. “Start the engines,” he barked. “Land somewhere in northern  Michigan.”
“Yes, sir.”
Sealed inside the pitch dark plane, he moved easily down the aisle and into his velvet-draped bedroom. He laid her softly on the deep maroon bedspread and lit the electric torches framing the bed so that he could look at her. There, spread on the bed, was the most beautiful sight he’d ever seen. He ran his hands over her breasts and savored her moan. “Miss Blaylock. I am about to make love to you. I will not stop until we are both satisfied, but I promise I will not hurt you.” He traced razor-sharp elongating claws over her bosom and reveled in her gasp, her pulse quickening under her perfect skin. “If you like, you may scream now.”

Thanks for reading!

Living Half Free - Touching Interracial Love Sto

It is my pleasure to welcome historical author Haley Whitehall to History in the Hot Lane. She is hear to talk about her interracial love story Living Half Free.

To spice things up I asked Haley a few questions. It is always fun to get to know the author as well as the book. :)

Today I’m pleased to welcome author Haley Whitehall to the blog, with her book, Living Half Free. The story takes place in the American south during the time of slavery. Whitehall really steeps the story in the history of the time. You feel like you are transported through time!

Interview with Haley Whitehall

What is your favorite dessert?

It is really hot this summer, but it could be the middle of winter and I’d give you the same answer: ice cream. I wish I could eat it every day … there are so many delicious flavors: rocky road, chocolate chip cookie dough, French vanilla with chocolate syrup. It is my guilty pleasure.

What inspired you to become a writer?

I needed to find an outlet for my creativity. I began telling stories when I was four and wrote my first story in the first grade. I love creating characters and bringing them to life. I didn’t go through stages of wanting to be a doctor or a ballerina. I’ve always wanted to be an author and now I am.

What inspired you to write historical fiction?

I love history. I know it is a bit of a romantic ideal but life was simpler in the 19th century, and it was definitely slower paced. I like to relive and escape to that time when doing research. I have a B.A in history and specialized in American History. The more I researched the Antebellum South/ Civil War the more I wanted to learn. I’m not sure why this time period called to me more than others. Being my favorite, it is only natural that I write historical fiction set during this era.

What inspired you to write Living Half Free?

I was reading about the Antebellum South and became fascinated with mulatto slaves who were white enough to pass as white. It didn’t take long for my mind to race with ideas. A few nights later I dreamed about Zachariah and the novel was born.

Can you quickly explain what Living Half Free is about?

When Zachariah, a naïve mulatto slave, is sold to a Kentucky slave trader, and separated from his ma and sister, he realizes the true meaning of not having rights. Singled out for abuse by his new master’s sadistic son, he dreams of only one thing: escape. He thinks he’s found it when he falls in love with a Cherokee woman from a powerful family, under whose direction he learns to pass as white. But it’s not long before he discovers that freedom that’s based on a lie will only get him so far. While struggling to find his place in the world, he also wrestles within his heart to realize his faith. This faith is tested when his slave past catches up with him, and threatens everyone he cares for. He must decide whether slavery is the price he’s willing to pay for his family’s freedom.

Living Half Free is a coming of age love story suitable for New Adults and Adults. It is written in period language and dialect. Based on reader feedback, I am considering writing a traditional romance between Zachariah and Lillian in the future.

Who was the easiest character to write and why? Hardest and why?

Zachariah was the easiest character for me to write. He came to me nearly fully formed. I pictured him, knew his motivations and goals and obstacles. It was eerie. My characters always talk to me but this seemed more. It was like a ghost of this mulatto slave was standing next to me making sure I got everything right.

Lillian was the hardest to write. She is a very complicated woman and seemed secretive. I had to dig deep to discover her secrets and her family’s secrets. She came from a privileged Cherokee family which directed me to research the Cherokee Nation—not a subject with extensive resources. I also had to strike a delicate balance to make her relationship with Zachariah believable and touching.

Here is a short excerpt:
This morning, Lillian’s black hair was pulled back under a green bonnet adorned with yellow flowers. Zachariah took a deep breath, his mouth slightly parted, so he could drink in her beauty. It would get him through the desert of words and sentences until he saw her again.

“I have a surprise for you, Zachary. I am going to show you some of New Orleans.”

A burst of excitement made Zachariah’s thoughts spin. He had to kiss her. He leaned over, their lips perilously close. He inhaled her breath. Shivers rippled down his body. He lusted to feel her skin, taste her skin. At the last second he caught himself, pulled back, and kissed her hand.

“Thank you, Miss.”

A mixture of shock and pleasure registered in Lillian’s eyes. She put her hand on her chest and took a deep breath.

My Sexy Saturday: Bath time Surprise

Time for another excerpt from my f/f western romance.

Seven more yummy sentences!

Sometimes there is nothing sexier than a steamy bath.

The Virgin Madame:

I nervously approached the bath, stepping closer to the gorgeous naked girl. Her skin, slick with water, shown gold in the amber glow of the kerosene lamp. A hot steamy bath with Josephine made my heart palpitate. But first I had to undress.

Josephine watched me, anticipation in her eyes. Her teeth sunk into her plump lip. “You better hurry up before the water turns cold,” she teased.

Fifty Shades of Jungle Fever by L.V Lewis

Fifty Shades of Jungle Fever is definitely a nod to Fifty Shades of Gray... only it is much more entertaining! I had never read a BDSM book between an Afircan American woman and a white man before.I usually stay away from parodies, but I wanted to see how L.V Lewis handled the race relations issue in this book. She did it respectuly, tastefuly and realisticically. Before Kesha began training to be Tristan's submissive she made it clear she wasn't his slave and she preferred to call him Sir instead of Master.

Blurb:
If you've wondered how an ethnic girl from the hood might've handled an arrangement with an experienced white Dominant, this is your book. If you'd like to see the sexiest TWIN DOMS in a contemporary romance series in interracial relationships, this is most definitely your book.

Aspiring recording studio owners, Keisha Beale and Jada Jameson, score a rare meeting with venture capitalist Tristan White, and are thrust into a world beyond their wildest imaginations.

Street-wise Keisha is startled to realize she wants this rich white man, despite the certainty that he is out of her league. Unable to resist Keisha's sassy, irreverent, and fiercely independent spirit, Tristan knew from day one he wanted her, too--as his first African American submissive.

Upper Class Jada of the Springfield Jamesons has traveled in almost the same circles as the White brothers, and has had a secret crush on Nathan White, the point guard for the Chicago Bulls, for quite some time.

Both brothers have succumbed to jungle fever, and want a little coffee in their cream.

Lured by Tristan White and his offer of fronting the capital for her business in exchange for kinky sex, Keisha finds herself with no other option. Keisha is also tortured by a demons from her past, and her inability to come to terms with them threatens to undermine the future of her business and her tumultuous, unconventional relationship with Tristan White.

Erotic, amusing, and in places hilarious, the Ghetto Girl Erotica Trilogy is a parody with a unique take on a Fifty Shades-type story that will take you even further into the BDSM world, and promises to make the vanilla original Fifty Shades Blacker.
My Review:

The characters are so much more likeable and well-developed in this book than its counterpart and the writing is a lot more polished. I fell in love with this "Ghetto Style" romance. I am drawn to unique stories, and this one is definitely one of a kind.

Kesha is a young African American woman a couple years out of college she gets a chance to realize her dreams in starting her own business. She needs capital, and meets a magnate willing to give her what she needs, on his terms though. They embark on a journey together which is just rocky enough to be believable. I liked how Ms. Lewis wove in movie references to give more vivid description of what her heroine Kesha was feeling. The strong Ghestto voice in this novel may be its best part. Sometimes I thought her inner dialogue with her hoochie mama went over the top, but over all it was pitch perfect and had me laughing out loud.

Kesha was both a Ghetto girl and a very smart college graduate. She was a well rounded character and you could empathize with her in all situations. I am not a big fan of BDSM, but I must say that Ms. Lewis handled those situations in a tasteful manner ... maybe the best I've read so far. Tristan, her venture Capitalist was a strong presence without being totally overbearing. He was also very caring wanting to not only get to know/take care of Kesha but her family as well.

Do not be put off by the title and don't get the wrong idea that this book is racist. IT IS NOT. I think this off beat novel should be a must read for any romance reader!

I give Fifty Shades of Jungle Fever ***** 5 stars!
It was an engaging romance I plan to read again and I'm looking forward to reading book 2 in the Ghetto Girl Romance series.

Suspiciously Obedient by Julia Kent

This sounds like an exciting and sexy read. I've just discovered the "Obedient" trilogy and can't wait to read them.
From USA Today Bestselling Author Julia Kent comes the second book in her "Obedient" trilogy:

AFTER A BILLION PEOPLE WATCH YOU MAKE LOVE, WHERE DO YOU HIDE?

A fake persona with very real emotions...

As "Matt Jones," CEO playboy Michael Bournham has just stumbled into his wildest dream and worst nightmare while playing a middle-management employee role for a reality television stunt. Getting caught making love with his administrative assistant, Lydia Charles, on camera let unscrupulous Hollywood producers blackmail him before launching the video on YouTube. Fired from his job and ridiculed on social media, Mike needs to hit "reboot" on his life. Hiding Lydia away in Iceland with a made-up job, he sends his best friend Jeremy to watch over her. Meanwhile, he disguises himself once more and booked a cabin at Lydia's family's campground in Maine, to immerse himself in her world.

A best friend with deeper intentions...

After more than a decade of world travel and hedonistic fun, dot-com millionaire Jeremy wants more out of his friendship with Mike, but more than that - he wants Lydia. Struck by her beauty and essence, he follows Mike's order and obeys, courting her with a friendship that quickly becomes a deeper bond, charged by Lydia's fantasies about him - and Mike. Unable to resist, he becomes her confidante and bedmate, helping her to come to grips with her impulsive decisions and to find her way back home to Maine.

A woman torn by desire...

Lydia accepts the move to Iceland to become the Director of Communications for European Operations not realizing it's a sham position Michael Bournham created to help hide her from the firestorm of the viral sex tape. Living in a new country should be fun, but side glances and whispers from her new Icelandic employees dig at her. Ignored by her new boss at Bournham Industries, Lydia's disenchantment with her bold move is softened only by Jeremy's appearance. Wild and loose, he fills a void in her life - and soon fills her bed.

When she decides there's no place like home, the new couple embarks for her family's campground - and Jeremy's suspicious obedience will be revealed.

Bio:

USA Today Bestselling Author Julia Kent turned to writing romance novels after learning that she could not work as a fighter pilot because her fear of flying disqualified her. Turning to her second love, she became a dog groomer, but had to abandon that job after adopting too many strays. Writing about very real, very flawed people is a natural extension of her life and, well, her. She lives on the east coast with her partner, two small children, seventeen dogs that weigh less than fifteen pounds each, and a monthly consumption of Nutella, brie and french bread that makes cardiologists cringe.

She is originally from Ohio.
